YMCA of the Rockies – Cherish + Jason

When anyone talks about the YMCA, most of America recalls The Village People and the iconic dance associated with the hit song. However, the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, is an often overlooked Northern Colorado wedding venue that provides a picturesque venue that will satisfy even the most discerning bride. They have multiple different ceremony, and reception sites available, as well as on-site catering.
Cherish and Jason chose this venue for their early July wedding, and they took advantage of the beautiful backdrops provided by the Rocky Mountains in the middle of summer. They chose to have their ceremony outside at the Sara Smith Chapel, and the ceremony site was complete with an altar, and rows of seating for guests.
Cherish chose dresses from David’s Bridal for her and her bridesmaids, and paired them with shoes from Vans. This trend of wearing something other than dress shoes has become very popular with brides, as heels can be very difficult to wear for long hours. The groom and groomsmen chose a jeans and button up shirt look, topped with a vest, and also wore Vans to keep everything cohesive.
The flowers for the ceremony and reception were purchased at Safeway, and were put together by the Mother of the Groom, and a good friend of the family’s. The flower crowns for the bride and her flower girls were hand made by Cherish herself!
Hair and makeup for Cherish and Jason’s day was provided by a friend of the family, and their wedding rings were purchased at Shane Company. After their ceremony, Cherish and Jason held their reception at the Pine Room at the YMCA of the Rockies, which also provided the food for their reception. The YMCA of the Rockies also provides the linens, chairs, tables and dinner ware for any event, cutting down on the cost for brides and grooms that want to host their wedding there.
Cherish and Jason decorated their reception area with handmade twin balloons and decorative tree stumps, which gave the reception a wonderfully homey and woodsey feel. The handmade centerpieces decorated each table lovingly, and the homemade cake was set atop a Pine tree stump purchased in nearby Salida. Cherish’s sister crafted their aspen themed wedding cake by hand, and Cherish continued the DIY trend with her homemade guestbook, and hand decorated card box.
The DJ was Robin Hood with Rooster Entertainment, and kept everyone happy and dancing through the night. Smiles were abundant, and even the littlest guests had a wonderful time celebrating Cherish & Jason’s nuptials.
