Pelican Lakes Golf & Country Club is a hidden gem in Northern Colorado. It’s located in the small town of Windsor, and features a private island with two different ceremony sites to choose from: the beach or the chapel. You can also choose to have your ceremony site in their banquet facility or stay on the private island at their tent reception area.

This is where Katelyn and Devan decided to get married, and from the beginning of their day in the custom bridal suite, to the end with a mystical sparkler exit, their day was as breathtaking as they were!

The day started off at Pelican Lakes’ bridal suite, which was complete with plenty of space for the bridal party and the dresses! Katelyn’s hair was done by Tanya Peters, and her makeup was by Jessica Martinac. Katelyn’s gown was found at Dora Grace Bridal, as were her Bridesmaid’s Dresses. Devan wore his service uniform, with one of his groomsmen wearing a tux provided by Al’s Formalwear. Katelyn’s look was completed by jewelry that has been handed down in her family from her Grandmother.

While the girls were getting ready, the boys were downstairs in  The Sand Bar’s “Groom Room” which has a state of the art golf simulator, and room for the guys to get ready.  Devan wore his service uniform, with one of his groomsmen wearing a tux provided by Al’s Formalwear.  His gifts to his groomsmen were custom engraved flasks!

Their wedding rings were purchased at Fred Meyer Jewelers and Harris Jewelry, and complemented the theme of their wedding beautifully.

Katelyn & Devan chose the outdoor chapel ceremony site for their ceremony, and elected to have their reception at the tent adjacent to the beach front site.  The flowers were from The Borrowed Bride.  They decorated the tent themselves, and built their own centerpieces, card box, and other flower accents, as well as their own custom stationary for the space.  These custom made items  flowed beautifully through the space, and showed how a bride can create a custom reception area from a blank canvas and a bit of determination.

The DJ and lighting guru for the reception was Jaz McDonald, and Pelican Lakes provided not only the food, but also the chairs, linens and other items necessary for the reception to go off without a hitch!  The beautiful cupcakes were from Cupcake Libations, and their beautiful colors were a lovely addition to the reception area.

A new trend to spice up the traditional Bride & Groom exit are “Sparkler” Exits, where the guests at the reception light sparklers and send off the newly married bride and groom with well wishes and love.  It not only creates a custom look for your traditional exit, but also gives your photographer some beautiful moments to capture.

Katelyn and Devan had a picture perfect wedding at Pelican Lakes Golf & Country Club, and they found ways to make it their own.  Weddings are supposed to be about you and your betrothed!  Don’t be afraid to use your creative nature to turn a venue into your own!

Until next week, good luck and happy planning!
